Description

Immediate supervisor: Director of Assessment and President. Works closely with the administrative assistant, project managers and other assessors.

  • Take part in assessment visits
  • Meet with commercial clients to gather all necessary information for projects and submit project assessments
  • Undertake in-depth evaluations of plans and specifications provided by the clients, in collaboration with his or her team
  • Perform accurate readings of the technical specifications of tender documents
  • Analyze all the clauses related to business operations and on-site working conditions
  • Examine the scope of work and the construction takeoffs
  • Estimate costs (material, labour, rentals) based on plans and specifications
  • Dispatch tenders to subcontractors
  • Take part in receiving subcontractor prices and closing project bids
  • Gather, analyze and negotiate bids received
  • Track addenda and changing conditions during the tender process
  • Obtain pricing from the BSDQ
  • Request deposits
  • Verify all documents requested during the tender process
  • Have his/her bid analyzed by his/her immediate supervisor
  • Fill out the bidding forms
  • Close the bidding as per procedure
  • Perform bidding record keeping
  • If the project is secured, hold a meeting with the project manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or degree in a related field of study
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (asset)
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in assessment
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Strong business development skills
  • Experience in developing bids and reading plans and specifications
  • Versatility and excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to manage several projects or bids at once
  • Rigour; planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Ability to build and maintain harmonious professional relations
  • Excellent French language skills, both written and spoken
  • Software proficiency: MS Office (advanced), Microsoft Project (project schedule management), technical drawing software (Autocad) and assessment software.
